Description:
The impact of Web applications that facilitate interactive information sharing and collaboration (facebook, youtube, etc.) is rapidly changing traditional perspectives and approaches to the design, development and delivery of adult learning. Organizations that can implement these approaches into an existing learning framework are often noted for enhanced and improved learning outcomes in terms of speed, efficiency and value.
This session will focus on the innovative use of online collaborative learning methods within the business environment. During this discussion, participants will:
- review the BMS Learning Framework
- discuss how technology is changing the ways in which we learn
- review examples of current collaborative learning approaches through easy-to-implement tools and methods
- have the opportunity to share best practices, lessons learned and helpful tips

About the speakers:
Barbara A. Keen, Ph.D.
Barbara A. Keen, Ph.D. is the Head of Global Learning and Development at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Co. where she is responsible for leadership and governance of their federated learning function. In this role, she oversees numerous strategic learning programs including Executive Leadership Development, Key Manager Transitions, Lean Sigma Training, Marketing, Sales, R&D, Manufacturing, and Corporate Functional learning programs. Barbara joined BMS in 1995 and has held positions in Organization Development, Talent Management, Leadership Development, and Human Resources.
In 2009, Barbara received the CLO Business Impact Learning In Practice Award for her leadership in driving the transformation of the learning function. She was also appointed to the Corporate University Exchange Social Learning Executive Committee. She has presented at numerous conferences on a variety of human resources topics including most recently at the Executive Network CLO Forum and the Corporate University Exchange Global Leadership Congress.
Prior to joining BMS, Barbara was on the faculties of Niagara University, University at Buffalo, and the State College at Buffalo as well as serving as clinical director for VA Medical Centers in East Orange, NJ and Buffalo, NY. She is a graduate of the doctoral program in Counseling Psychology at the State University of New York at Buffalo and holds an Advanced Certificate in Organizational Development & Human Resource Management from Columbia University.
Dan Bonham
Dan Bonham is the Associate Director of Learning Innovation at Bristol-Myers Squibb. Dan has 18 years of experience in Learning and Development, many of those years spent leading Courseware & eLearning Development, Learning Management System (LMS) and Learning Technology teams.
Prior to joining Bristol-Myers Squibb, Dan served for six years as Training and Project Manager for Personal Computer Learning Centers. During this time, Dan led project and training delivery teams to meet the learning needs of Fortune 500 customers. Currently, Dan’s Learning Innovation team is responsible for leveraging collaborative learning systems and tools that contribute to innovative program design, development and implementation. The team is focused on Learning Portals, Virtual Classrooms, Social Learning, Podcasting and Collaboration.
Peter Jones
Peter Jones is the Director of Global Learning and Development at Bristol-Myers Squibb. In this role, he is responsible managing a group that supplies a range of learning services across the company. Currently, he is focusing on several key transformation efforts to drive learning efficiencies and effectiveness throughout the organization.
Prior to joining Bristol Myers Squibb, Peter served as Vice President of Learning & Development at JP Morgan Chase. At Chase (and all of its predecessor companies), Peter created learning strategies for the integration and consolidation of approaches, systems, and resources impacted though major mergers and acquisitions. He was responsible for the implementation and/or upgrade of five enterprise wide learning management systems over the 5 mergers that took place over his 20 year tenure. Peter received the Training Innovator Award from the American Society of Training & Development for the development and implementation of JP Morgan Chase training merger integration strategy in May, 2001.
In November 2000, Peter won the Elearning Pioneer Award from Elliot Masie at TechLearn 2000 for his efforts to shape the learning field. Peter has a graduate degree from Columbia University and has worked in a training and e-learning role for over 20 years. He has written and published numerous articles on e-learning and has presented at conferences at TechLearn, Corporate University Exchange, Learning Technology, National Training Systems Association, ASTD,and Online Learning. |
